What a Hollywood Bus Tour Covers

At Hollywood Bus Tours, we offer guided sightseeing experiences that take you through LA’s most famous neighborhoods with a local driver-guide running live commentary along the route.
Depending on which option you choose, the route passes by celebrity homes, the Hollywood Sign, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, the Sunset Strip, and the Walk of Fame, with longer options adding the Santa Monica Pier, the Griffith Observatory, and the Original Farmers Market at The Grove.
You get the stories, the hot spots, and the photo opportunities without the planning, the parking, or the guesswork. See the headline sights in a single trip with a guide who can answer questions and adjust commentary based on what your group is curious about.
Which Tour Is Right for First-Time Visitors in Los Angeles?

We offer a variety of tour options designed to give first-timers and repeat visitors different ways to experience the city depending on time, budget, and what you most want to see.
Hollywood, Beverly Hills, & Celebrity Homes Open Air Tour
The Hollywood, Beverly Hills, & Celebrity Homes Open Air Tour runs in a 10 to 13-seat open-air van, small enough to access residential streets that larger vehicles cannot reach.
The route takes you through the Hills, along the Strip, and up Mulholland Drive, with a photo break at the Beverly Hills Sign. Keep your camera ready, as you may spot celebrity homes from names like Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Al Pacino, Bruno Mars, Gwen Stefani, and more along the way.
This runs 2 hours from Hollywood with one stop at the Beverly Hills Sign. The Santa Monica version runs 3.5 hours and adds a 30-minute break at the Beverly Hills Sign and Rodeo Drive, plus a 30-minute stop at the Hollywood Visitor Center and Walk of Fame.
Half Day Best of LA Tour

The Half Day Best of LA Tour runs 5.5 hours in a 32-seat coach-style bus with climate control and large windows, covering more of the city in a single booking.
From our Hollywood departure location, tour stops include…
- 30 minutes at Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive
- 45 minutes at the Santa Monica Pier
- 60 minutes at The Farmers Market & The Grove for lunch
- 30 minutes at the Griffith Observatory with views of the Hollywood sign
If you’re departing from our Santa Monica pickup location, the Beverly Hills break is replaced with a 45-minute stop at the Walk of Fame, The Grove extends to 75 minutes, and the Observatory time extends to 45 minutes.
This is the most balanced way to see the beach, the city’s best viewpoints, and the headline landmarks in one booking.
The Perfect Day in LA Combo Tour
The Perfect Day in LA Combo bundles the Celebrity Homes tour and the Half Day Best of LA Tour together for a full 7.5 hours of sightseeing. You get everything both tours cover, at a $10 discount versus booking each one separately. Once you complete your booking, you’ll receive an email with instructions to select your preferred dates and times for each tour.
If you have one day in the city and want to cover as much ground as possible, this is the one to book.
VIP Private SUV Experience and Private Tours

Our VIP Private SUV Experience takes small groups in a Cadillac Escalade for either a 5.5 or 7.5 hour itinerary with a dedicated chauffeur-guide. For larger or fully customized groups, our private tours run in either a 13-seat van or a 32-seat climate-controlled coach, built around your itinerary and schedule.
Both options work well for families, special occasions, and corporate groups.
Where Tours Depart From
We have two departure points so you can start from wherever fits your plans. Both are easy to reach by rideshare and have public parking close by.
Hollywood Departure at 7044 Hollywood Blvd
Our Hollywood departures run from the Visitor Center at 7044 Hollywood Blvd, right in the middle of the boulevard. Look for our blue and pink buses out front. Arriving a little early gives you time to walk the stars before boarding.
Santa Monica Departure at the Shore Hotel
Westside departures leave from the Shore Hotel at 1515 Ocean Ave, a few blocks from the waterfront and the Third Street Promenade. Public parking is available at the same address.
How Long the Tour Takes
The length depends on which experience you book. Here is how the four options compare.
- The Hollywood, Beverly Hills, & Celebrity Homes Open Air Tour runs 2 hours from Hollywood and 3.5 hours from the coast.
- The Half Day Best of LA Tour runs 5.5 hours from either location.
- The Perfect Day in LA Combo runs 7.5 hours total across two segments.
- Private and VIP options are fully flexible, from a couple of hours to a full day.
Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure for check-in. Seating on the van-based experiences is first-come, first-served by check-in order, so arriving a little early gives you the best pick of seats.
Top 6 Sightseeing Attractions
Each experience covers a different mix of the city’s best-known sights. Here are the six standouts across our full lineup, with notes on which booking gets you there.
1. The Iconic Hollywood Sign

All of our tours are designed to get you a great view of the sign. Our Hollywood, Beverly Hills, & Celebrity Homes Open Air Tour passes it from multiple angles through the residential streets above the city, and the Half Day Best of LA and Perfect Day in LA options include a dedicated viewing area at the Griffith Observatory with time to get the shot.
2. Celebrity Homes in the Hollywood Hills

Our Hollywood, Beverly Hills, & Celebrity Homes Open Air Tour takes you through the neighborhoods above the city, past addresses associated with names like Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Floyd Mayweather, and Tyler Perry.
Your driver-guide shares the history and stories behind each address as you move through the streets. Because we use smaller vehicles, we can access residential streets that a full-size bus cannot reach, which means better angles and a closer look at the properties.
3. Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, and the Sunset Strip

Every experience passes through the neighborhood, along the famous shopping blocks, and through the Strip. The Hollywood, Beverly Hills, & Celebrity Homes Open Air tour includes a photo break at the Beverly Hills Sign, and the Half Day Best of LA tour adds 30 minutes of time on the ground at Rodeo Drive itself. For a deeper look at what to do once you’re there, our Rodeo Drive guide covers the best spots along those three blocks.
4. Explore the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Walk of Fame runs along the boulevard with stars dedicated to actors, musicians, and entertainment figures across multiple decades. Hollywood departures check in right at the Visitor Center on the boulevard, so you can walk the stars before your experience begins. If you’re departing the Santa Monica, your tour includes a dedicated stop here.
Any booking can also be paired with our Self-Guided Walking Tour of Hollywood Boulevard, which is included free with every Hollywood Bus Tour.
5. Santa Monica Pier and Beach Stop

The famous Santa Monica Pier is a scheduled break on the Half Day Best of LA and Perfect Day in LA tours with time to walk out over the Pacific, grab food, and take photos at the water’s edge. The pier also marks the western endpoint of historic Route 66..
6. Griffith Observatory on the Half Day and Combo Tours

The Observatory sits on the south slope of Mount Hollywood with sweeping views across the city and a dedicated area for photographing the sign. Both the Half Day and Combo options include 30 to 45 minutes here, with time to walk the grounds and step inside, which is free. It’s also one of the most filmed locations in the city, appearing in productions shot across multiple decades.

Inside the Experience

Your Live Driver-Guide
Every driver-guide brings knowledge that doesn’t come from a script. They’ve run these routes hundreds of times, know which vantage points give you the best angles, which residential streets have the best access to the gated neighborhoods, and which stories from the entertainment industry are worth your time. With a small group and a live guide, you get real conversation, insider knowledge, and a day that feels personal from start to finish.
The Audio Guide in 10 Languages
Our tours include a GPS-activated multilingual audio guide available in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese, German, Russian, Italian, Catalan, Chinese, and Korean. The app narrates automatically as the vehicle moves, so international visitors follow along in their own language while the driver-guide delivers live English commentary at the same time. Our team helps you download and set up the app before departure.
Our Fleet and Vehicles
Every vehicle in our fleet is chosen to match the experience it serves. All three are built for year-round use and designed to keep sightlines clear throughout the route.
- Celebrity Homes Open Air Tour: 10 to 13-seat open-air van, small enough to access residential streets in the Hills that larger vehicles cannot reach
- Half Day Best of LA Tour: 32-seat coach-style bus with climate control, air conditioning, and large windows for unobstructed views across the city
- VIP Private SUV Experience: Cadillac Escalade with a dedicated chauffeur-guide for a fully private and personalized day
What to Bring on Tour Day
- Camera or fully charged phone: The best moments often come between scheduled breaks rather than only at them, so staying ready matters
- Comfortable walking shoes: Even on shorter experiences, the breaks give you time to explore on foot
- Layers: Temperatures shift between the inland areas and the neighborhoods closer to the water, particularly on mornings when marine layer sits over the Westside
- Sunscreen and sunglasses: Worth having especially on the open-air van experiences
- Water and snacks: Both are welcome on board as long as you clean up before the end of the day
How to Book Your Tour
Booking takes just a few minutes on our website with real-time availability across both locations. For questions, reach us at (213) 986-7688 or info@hollywoodbustoursla.com.
How Far in Advance to Reserve
We run daily year-round, but spots fill fast, particularly during spring break, summer, and the weeks around the holidays. Booking as soon as you know your travel dates is the simplest way to lock in your preferred time and departure point. Private and VIP bookings fill even faster, so early planning matters more for those options.
Payment, Cancellations, and Changes
We accept all major credit and debit cards online and cash at check-in. Transactions are processed through FareHarbor with full encryption.
Full-price tickets can be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours before your scheduled departure. Discounted tickets are non-refundable, and same-day bookings are final. For changes to an existing reservation, call us at (213) 986-7688 as early as possible.
More Common Questions from First-Timers
1. Are the Tours Family-Friendly?
Yes, and we see families of all sizes on every departure. Children aged 0 to 2 are priced at $5 on most options, with separate pricing for ages 3 to 11 and 12 and up. Full pricing by age is listed on each individual page in our tour lineup.
California law requires children under 8, or shorter than 4’9″, to use a car seat or booster in the rear seat. We have a limited number available on a first-come, first-served basis, so bringing your own guarantees your child’s comfort and safety on the day.
2. What Happens If It Rains?
We run year-round, rain or shine, and provide complimentary ponchos at check-in on wet days. In the event of severe weather that makes the route unsafe, we offer a refund or the option to reschedule. The city averages around 35 days of rain per year, and the days right after a storm tend to produce some of the clearest skies and best visibility of the year.
3. Is There a Restroom On Board?
There are no restrooms on the vehicles. Facilities are available at both departure locations before boarding, and all longer experiences include breaks at points of interest where restrooms are accessible.
4. Can I Bring Snacks and Drinks on the Hollywood Tours?
Yes. Snacks and drinks are welcome on board. We ask that you clean up before the end of the day so the vehicle stays comfortable for the next group.
5. Is Gratuity Included in Sightseeing Tours?
Gratuity is not included in the ticket price. Our guides put real energy into every route, and a tip at the end of the day is a meaningful way to recognize the experience they put together for your group.
6. How Common Are Celebrity Sightings on the Tours in Los Angeles?
The city is home to a lot of well-known faces who move through their neighborhoods daily. Sightings happen regularly and we’ve documented plenty over the years on our celebrity sightings page.
No company can guarantee a live sighting, and we’d rather be upfront about that. What we can guarantee is that your guide knows the properties, the history, and the stories behind every address on the route, which makes for a worthwhile day regardless.
7. Where is the Best Spot to Park?
Hollywood: The closest public garage to our check-in point is at 1670 N Sycamore Ave, a short walk away. Our parking guide covers every option nearby including garages, lots, and street parking within easy walking distance.
Santa Monica: Public parking is available at 1515 Ocean Ave, the same address as our Shore Hotel departure.
